When things change
Sometimes life gives us a raw deal. Sometimes it serves up a series of them. Or sometimes we simply live through a series of singular events. Using great scenes from literature to inspire and guide us, we’ll warm up with a quick list of the karmic dominoes that fell to paint our character (or ourselves) into a particular corner. Then we’ll write an introduction to our character. When we reconvene in the afternoon, we’ll dive deep and find the moment our character (be she fictional or nonfictional) discovered her own agency, our own desire for independence and even power. We’ll use a great scene from literature to write this in as much glorious detail as possible.
You’ll walk away having observed your character’s dilemma (or your own) in detail, and your spark of hope will be brighter than ever. The day will produce some great writing and even personal relief.
